The Royal Navy held a service in Yeovilton last week to remember 21 Wrens who died in a torpedo attack 80 years ago.
The incident was described as “one of the darkest hours in the history of women serving in the Royal Navy” at the Fleet Air Arm Memorial Church service last Friday (August 20). Serving personnel and veterans gathered to remember 21 members of the Women’s Royal Naval Service, and 15 Fleet Air Arm men, who were killed when their ship was sunk en route to Gibraltar.
